International City is a country themed architecture of residences, business opportunity, and tourist attractions. It will cover 800 hectares (8 million square meters) and its geometry was inspired by the intricately patterened traditional carpets of the Middle East. Once completed, the project will contain studio, one and two bedroom apartment units and accommodate over 60 thousand residents.

International City is located in the Al Warsan region of Dubai, which is along the Dubai-Hatta road and between Interchange 5 and 6 of Emirates Road, opposite to the Dubai Central Fruit and Vegetable Market. It is located 9 kilometers (5.4 miles) from the Dubai International Airport, which is around a 15-20 minute drive from the center of the city. It will comprise of 6 key areas, including The Central District, Dubai Design Centre, The Dragon Mart, The Residential District, Lakes District and the Forbidden City.

The Central District
International City's bustling Central District is spread over 21 hectares and complete with infrastructure of the highest standards. With security and service systems firmly in place, the multi-purpose Central District will be the nerve centre of International City's commercial activity and also house a variety of residential and leisure amenities.

Ample space is available for wholesalers and retailers to set up shop and thrive in regulated market conditions. The Central District will comprise of 34 plots that will be sold to independent developers. The owners have the flexibility to develop their own projects. Eleven-storey office and residential blocks with retail outlets on the ground floors and basement car parking for 130 cars each will predominate the development. An impressive 30-40 floor feature tower covering 50,000 square metres will house corporate offices and also have a mall at its base.

Dubai Gate
Bordering this enormous development on three sides will be an exclusive area for permanent and temporary exhibitions. Facing three prime roads the Dubai/Hatta Road, Emirates Road and the Academic Road Dubai Gate will be a state-of-the-art hub for varied exhibitors to showcase their products to a truly international audience. Two quality hotels with 300 to 400 rooms each will be on-site to accommodate exhibitors and visitors alike.

The Dragon Mart
Spread across 50 hectares, the Dragon Mart is a large trade mall designed in the form of a colourful dragon with a 1.4 kilometre long Central Spine. The Dragon Mart will serve as a permanent exhibition and commercial area for more than 3,000 Chinese companies and traders to display their wares and brands.The dragon's head will serve as its main entrance with access from the Dubai/Hatta road. With 2,000 parking spaces, this development will house showrooms, shopping areas and restaurants and will be a tourist attraction in its own right. Due to the sheer size of the complex, it is cleverly devised to incorporate thoroughfares for battery-powered cars.

The Forbidden City
This magnificent recreation of a monolith that was once off-limits to most of the world is destined to become a must-see tourist attraction. Spread over 240,000 square metres with parking facilities for 2,000 cars, this replica of the biggest and best-preserved cluster of ancient buildings in China will accommodate authentic residential and retail outlets set amidst awe-inspiring gardens, museums and performance courts. An impressive Central Court comes with a 'Pagoda' that houses an authentic Chinese restaurant.
